A note on share counts — three different denominators in play

The synthetic rating is a Damodaran coverage-table heuristic, not an empirical S&P / Moody's letter. It maps EBIT-÷-interest into a letter-grade bucket and reads the spread out of a lookup table; an actual agency rating considers qualitative factors (governance, market position, jurisdiction, off-balance-sheet exposure) the coverage ratio can't capture.
