Why rank by total return, not price?
When a stock pays a large dividend, its share price drops by roughly the dividend amount on the ex-dividend date. A price-based ranking would flag it as a "loser" that day, but a shareholder who reinvests the dividend may be flat or even ahead. Total return — price change plus reinvested dividends — measures what investors actually experience, so it is the correct basis for identifying winners and losers.
Assumptions: 0% dividend tax and 0% transaction cost. This differs from the main comparison page, which applies a 20% tax and 0.2% execution cost on dividend reinvestment. Removing those frictions makes raw stock performance directly comparable across brokers and jurisdictions.
